Dogs Trust – Kenilworth

The Problem

Due to changes in legislation preventing discharge of waste potentially containing the Toxocara parasite Dogs Trust were no longer able to discharge waste water from their Kenilworth rehoming centre to the public sewer using an existing shared pumped connection. After discussions with the Environment Agency and Severn Trent Water it was decided that pre-treatment and discharge to the sewer was the most practicable solution.

Work undertaken

Soma sent a member of staff out to assess the sites, to report on the condition of the Sewage Equipment, and recommend any repairs required. Soma then created a routine servicing schedule that would ensure the equipment would be kept in full working order.

  • Soma investigated all options to select the best long term solution
  • Soma worked closely with the Environment Agency and Severn Trent Water to ensure that the solution adopted was acceptable to everyone involved
  • Methods used minimised disruption of local traffic flow and operation of the rehoming centre
  • The Kenilworth Rehoming Centre remained open throughout the works
