I want to install a package sewage treatment plant. Do I need permission?
Yes. Soma Services will apply for a Consent to Discharge from the Environment Agency on your behalf as part of the project.
How do I know if I am being offered the right treatment plant?
Soma Services design in accordance with the British Water Code of Practice to ensure the right selection is made for you.
Do Sewage Treatment Plants or Pump Stations need much maintenance?
Modern design has reduced maintenance to a minimum but a service contract with Soma Services ensures that you receive the correct level of service at manufacturers recommended intervals as well as priority emergency call-out attention.
How much will a package treatment plant cost to run?
Typically about the same as the sewage rates that you would pay if you were connected to mains drainage.
Should we have a treatment plant or connect to the public sewer?
Connection to the public sewer is always the best long term solution and if there is a public sewer to which you can connect the Environment Agency will not grant a Consent to Discharge for a treatment plant. Soma Services will investigate all options, obtain the necessary permissions and carry out the works.
Can an existing treatment plant be up-rated?
Some older designs can be converted to use current technology and Soma Services can advise on whether upgrading or replacement is the better option.
Who should install sewage treatment and pumping equipment?
Any civil engineering company can attempt this type of work but the services of a specialist drainage contractor with fully trained operatives should be sought to ensure that the value of equipment purchased is protected.
Will installation of the recommended equipment result in disruption of business?
No. Soma Services will ensure that drainage systems are maintained ‘live’ throughout a project and will call on tanker support if necessary as part of the works.
